Tiburon, CA (August 13, 2013) – This September, ten youth teams will compete in the first-ever Red Bull Youth America’s Cup. While the sporting challenge facing these youth sailors is both new and daunting, a second age-old challenge faces them too: the challenge of raising sufficient funds to compete. For Team USA45 Racing, the team selected to represent the United States, this second challenge is being met through a new, exciting initiative designed to appeal to the next generation of sailors. SailX and Team USA45 Racing are proud to announce a partnership designed to give US sailors the opportunity to get behind their national team, not only by watching them but actually racing online on behalf of them, against fans of the other teams.
To mark this partnership, SailX is rolling out a new and improved 3D graphics interface, as well as “launching” the new USA 45 Racing branded SailX Wingcat.
Team Manager, Matt Reynolds: “This announcement is both a ‘call to arms’ to our fans and a challenge to the other Red Bull Youth Americas Cup teams and their fans. We want to create the ultimate Fan-vs-Fan challenge series to give our fans a fun way to support us, as well as a great way to learn about this new and intense style of racing. Starting today, we will be running a new Fan-vs-Fan racing format on SailX, so we are urging our fans to join in and help us race against the ‘rest of the world.’ In the weeks that follow, as other youth America’s Cup teams join the fray, we expect to see Fan-vs-Fan racing like we have never seen before. “
For the winners of this first event, there will be some fantastic prizes up for grabs, including signed Team USA45 Racing team kit and the chance to spend a day with the team including observing an AC45 practice session from the team chase boat.
